Pioneer XM Satellite Tuners Continue to Lead the Market

Digital Satellite Radio Offerings for Any Car Stereo

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. continues to lead the digital satellite radio market with a variety of XM products, including an add-on tuner, a universal FM modulated tuner and a headunit/tuner package. The Pioneer units enable any consumer to receive 100 channels of digital programming from XM Satellite Radio with a paid subscription. Satellite radio is a new audio experience, offering unmatched clarity of all-digital sound from coast to coast. The programming is ideal for music devotees, sports fanatics as well as news hounds.

"We've seen an intense demand for these tuners since the XM national launch last November," said Michael Townsen, vice president of marketing for mobile entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "Pioneer is leading the market because we're offering the widest selection of XM tuners for any type of consumer."

Pioneer is demonstrating its support for XM digital satellite radio by integrating it as a source in many of the 2002 headunits. Just like the AM or FM band, the XM logo will appear as a source when the band button is pressed on the headunit.

Pioneer makes it easy to receive XM transmission with a variety of products including:

XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR) is transforming radio, an industry that has seen little technological change since FM, almost 40 years ago. XM's programming lineup features 100 coast-to-coast digital channels: 71 music channels, more than 30 of them commercial-free, from hip hop to opera, classical to country, bluegrass to blues; and 29 channels of sports, talk, children's and entertainment. XM also brings to the car, for the first time on radio, the same diverse selection of 24-hour news sources available in the home on cable and DIRECTV. XM was named ``Product of the Year'' by Fortune, an ``Invention of the Year'' by Time and won Popular Science's 2001 ``Best of What's New'' Grand Award in the electronics category. XM won several awards at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show, including ``Best of CES'' in the automotive category. For more information, please visit XM's website:
